Current Situation: The fire isburning in heavy timber. Firefighters are challenged by steep, rugged terrain with difficult access. The fire has spread north and east along the Eel river canyon and moved closer to the Big Bend / Low Gap creek areas. Firefighting personnel and equipment are actively working to construct fireline across the northern boundary of the fire.
Cooperating Agencies: Bureau of Land Management, Laytonville Fire Department, Mendocino County Sherriff’s Office, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, California National Guard, California Conservation Corps, and CAL OES.
A community meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Harwood Memorial Park hall. The hall is located at 44400 Willis Avenue in Laytonville. |
