Summer Safety at the Pool

Summer is here, and there’s no better way to beat the heat then being in the water. Mendocino County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), Public Health wants to remind you to never leave a child unattended around a swimming pool or any other body of water. 75% of drowning deaths of children younger than age 14 occur at home, a friend’s, or neighbor’s house. Set a designated time for swimming when an adult is present, secure the pool with a cover or a safety fence and avoid distractions and make sure children are closely monitored around pools/bodies of water. Make water safety a priority to ensure a day at the pool is safe and fun.
